My album Bear and Grin presents eight of my original compositions and features Grammy-nominated singer Becca Stevens. Recorded at the renowned Sear Sound studio in New York, the project explores a variety of harmonic concepts and reharmonization techniques. This project also marked my first collaboration with lyricist Desmond White, which allowed me to investigate the relationship between lyrical melodies and advanced harmonic progressions.

The One Place Left to Go (scheduled for release in Spring 2026)

As part of my research project, “The Implementation of Contemporary Gospel Organ Techniques in Jazz Piano Improvisations,” I recorded seven original compositions. Each song focuses on unique harmonic patterns and voice-leading strategies commonly found in contemporary African American gospel music but often overlooked in the public discourse and the context of jazz piano playing.
My research project aimed to remedy this gap by exploring and analyzing gospel keyboard re-harmonization and voice-leading concepts and their potential implementation into jazz improvisations and compositions through creative practice and the creation of an artistic portfolio with the title “The One Place Left To Go.”
For the recording session, which took place in New York City, I was able to bring together a group of musicians that had never worked collectively in this configuration before, which led to a truly unique ensemble sound. Every artist involved is a successful performer and composer in their own right and is considered an influential leader on their instrument/voice.
